On Friday, a full court reference was held in Islamabad to honor outgoing Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Qazi Faez Isa. The event featured lawyers and judges reflecting on the key moments of Justice Isa’s tenure. Following this tribute, CJP Isa will also participate in a luncheon reception at the Supreme Court.

During the event, Justice Isa shared that his life transformed drastically when he took on the role of Chief Justice in Balochistan, a position he accepted at a time when the region lacked judges.

Notable attendees included Justices Jamal Khan Mandokhail, Muhammad Ali Mazhar, Syed Hasan Azhar Rizvi, and Shahid Waheed. However, Senior Puisne Judge Justice Mansoor Ali Shah was absent, as he was performing Umrah with his family.

Justice Isa became Chief Justice in September 2023, succeeding Umar Ata Bandial. Justice Yahya Afridi, who was appointed as CJP on October 26, will take over following Isa’s retirement. This appointment was endorsed by President Asif Ali Zardari after a special parliamentary committee nominated Justice Afridi following the 26th Amendment.

In his address, CJP-designate Afridi praised Justice Isa as a “kind and compassionate person,” reflecting on how much he learned while serving alongside him. He also humorously noted that Justice Isa’s temperament could change dramatically depending on one’s approach, urging respect and humility when interacting with him.
