Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has termed as “alarming” the reported Rs 5.89 trillion losses incurred by state-owned enterprises (SOEs) in the first half of FY 2024-25, pledging to privatise eight SOEs within the year. Speaking in the Senate on a calling attention notice, Aurangzeb said losses equalled nearly half of last year’s Rs 12 trillion national revenue.
