A fire engulfed the entire shopping plaza in Peshawar’s Sadar area on Monday, as a result of which four people were seriously injured.
The relief team says that there are around 200 shops in the building which have been destroyed. According to the relief workers, a fire broke out in one shop due to an electrical short circuit, which later spread to the entire building.
Officials say the building contained thousands of phone batteries and other flammable items, which led to explosions and fueled the fire.
Help has been sought from the nearby districts of Nowshera, Mardan and Khyber to control the fire, while personnel from the Army Air Force have also been called in to help put out the fire.
Four persons injured in the fire were severely burnt while trying to save their belongings.
Peshawar Corps Commander Lieutenant General Hasan Azhar Hayat visited the area to supervise the relief operations.
