Following the release of the verdict, local media reported that Khan’s residence in Lahore was surrounded by the police.

The charges leading to the sentence stem from an investigation conducted by the election commission, which found Khan guilty of unlawfully selling state gifts while he served as Prime Minister of Pakistan from 2018 to 2022.
