A Paris court supported Miss France organisers in a decision Friday that dismissed charges from a feminist organisation that the beauty contest was discriminatory in the manner it picked candidates, according to one of the plaintiffs.
In October 2021, the “Osez le feminisme” (Dare to be a Feminist) organisation, together with three unsuccessful competitors, launched a lawsuit against the Miss France promoters and producers, saying they violated French labour law.
The plaintiffs alleged that the firms were discriminatory by mandating aspiring beauty queens to be more than 1.70 metres (five feet, six inches) tall, single, and “representative of beauty”.
