The government announced on Saturday its decision to hike the petroleum development levy (PDL) on gasoline, increasing it from Rs50 to Rs55 per litre, in line with a $3 billion staff-level agreement recently inked with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Effective from the beginning of the new fiscal year, July 1, the PDL on gasoline has been implemented.
Furthermore, the ministry clarified that there would be no upward revision in the development levy imposed on high-speed diesel (HSD), which remains fixed at Rs50 per litre.
