Gary Kirsten Resigns as Pakistan’s White-Ball Coach After Just Six Months

Gary Kirsten has stepped down from his role as Pakistan’s white-ball coach, just six months after taking on the position, as announced by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Monday.

In his place, Test coach Jason Gillespie will lead the team during their limited-overs tour of Australia starting next week. The PCB confirmed this transition on X, stating, “Jason Gillespie will coach the Pakistan men’s cricket team on next month’s white-ball tour of Australia following Gary Kirsten’s resignation.”

Kirsten, who previously guided India to their 2011 ODI World Cup win, was appointed to oversee Pakistan’s one-day and T20 International teams in April. Notably, he was absent during the announcement of wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan as the new white-ball captain, replacing Babar Azam.

Pakistan’s tour includes three ODIs and three T20Is against Australia from November 4 to 18, followed by six limited-overs matches in Zimbabwe.
