GAZA CITY: Gaza’s civil defence agency reported that Israeli forces killed 37 people in the besieged territory on Saturday, including at least nine children in multiple strikes.

According to civil defence spokesperson Mahmud Bassal, 35 individuals died in seven Israeli air and drone strikes across various areas, while two more were killed by Israeli gunfire as they waited for food aid in the Netzarim area of central Gaza.

Among the victims were three children killed in an airstrike on a residence in Jabalia, located in northern Gaza. Bassal added that at least six more children lost their lives in a northeastern Gaza City neighbourhood, some of them struck near a school being used as a shelter for displaced families.

Due to media restrictions and limited access within Gaza, AFP has been unable to independently confirm the death toll or specific details shared by emergency personnel.

AFP photos from Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City showed grieving families mourning over the bodies of seven victims, including at least two children, wrapped in white burial cloths and blankets.

Video captured from southern Israel showed plumes of smoke rising from northern Gaza following explosions, while AFP footage from within Gaza City showed a thick cloud of smoke billowing from struck buildings.
