ISLAMABAD: The federal government is embarking on an ambitious endeavor to establish a “Harmonized Traffic System” nationwide, aiming to enhance convenience for motorists and ensure improved road safety, as reported by The Republic Policy News on Monday.
To materialize this vision, the government has presented three innovative ideas to the concerned departments in each province for the implementation of the proposed system. These ideas encompass the introduction of centralized driving licenses, assessment of commercial vehicle fitness, and sharing of comprehensive data regarding driving licenses and traffic.
The provincial authorities have been urged to promptly provide their valuable input on these proposals, enabling swift progress in transforming the envisioned system into reality.
Detailed analysis revealed that the federal authorities conducted a comprehensive study of traffic systems implemented in foreign countries. Consequently, they concluded that Pakistan should also embrace a similar traffic system that can alleviate complexities, facilitate motorists, and curtail road accidents.
