Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has emphasized that his government will work tirelessly to ensure timely implementation of initiatives under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor.
He was talking to Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, Jiang Zedong, who called on him in Islamabad today.
The Prime Minister thanked President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang for their congratulatory messages on their re-election and assumption of office.
He responded to the warm sentiments of the Chinese leadership and appreciated their cooperation and determination to strengthen the iron-clad friendship between Pakistan and China.
The Prime Minister emphasized that Pakistan is keen to move to the next phase of CPEC, which includes operationalizing Special Economic Zones to facilitate Chinese investment in Pakistan.
The Prime Minister said that the Special Investment Facilitation Council was created during his previous tenure to attract foreign investment in priority sectors including agriculture, IT, minerals and renewable energy.
He said that Chinese companies will find many profitable opportunities in Pakistan.
The Chinese ambassador reiterated that the Chinese leadership and government are keen to deepen Pakistan-China friendship.
In this regard, he invited the Prime Minister to pay an official visit to China as soon as possible.
Accepting the invitation, the Prime Minister said that he would make the visit on a mutually convenient date which would be worked out through diplomatic channels.
