The process for applying to perform Hajj this year has officially begun, with applicants required to submit their applications at 15 designated bank branches across Pakistan starting today (Monday). As per the Ministry of Religious Affairs, each applicant must deposit Rs 200,000 as the first installment with their Hajj application.
Following a balloting process, successful applicants will be asked to pay a second installment. The final Hajj dues are due between February 1 and February 10, 2025.
The government’s Hajj scheme has a quota of 89,605 seats, which includes 5,000 spots specifically allocated for Overseas Pakistanis under a special sponsorship program. These overseas applicants will need to make their payments in US dollars.
The government Hajj package covers various services, including airfare, meals, accommodation, training, and required vaccinations. However, the Ministry has imposed certain restrictions for the pilgrimage this year. Individuals with serious medical conditions, children under twelve, and pregnant women in advanced stages of pregnancy will not be allowed to travel for Hajj.
Additionally, the Ministry will closely monitor the application process, tracking the performance of the participating bank branches via a central dashboard.
