Head coach Grant Bradburn calls for Pakistan to shake up cricket strategy

Grant Bradburn, the head coach of the Pakistani cricket team, has urged his players to adopt a new style of play if they hope to win the upcoming World Cup and Asia Cup. Bradburn believes that sticking to the same tactics that have worked for the team in the past will only result in another second-place finish.

In an interview with the private news agency following Pakistan’s loss to New Zealand in the fifth T20I, the 56-year-old coach emphasized the need for a “champion team” rather than just a group of talented players. He and former coach Mickey Arthur have already addressed the team multiple times, inspiring and motivating them to reach their full potential.

Bradburn said, “We’ve allowed the realization or the acceptance from our boys, that we’re not the team where they want to be as yet, if we want to contest and win the World Cup, we want to go to number one, every format of the game, our game is going to have to lift, our players are going to have to lift [themselves].”

He also acknowledged that Pakistan’s previous style of play has brought them success in the past, but now it’s time for “subtle changes” and “subtle demands” in order to take the team to the next level.

In cricket, as in life, sometimes change is necessary to achieve success. With the World Cup and Asia Cup looming, Bradburn’s call for a new brand of cricket could be just what the Pakistani team needs to become champions.
