A potentially catastrophic incident was narrowly avoided on Saturday when Pakistan Railways’ Khyber Mail, en route from Lahore to Karachi, encountered a perilous situation as it approached Sahiwal. Smoke billowed from the wheels of one of the train’s bogies, setting off alarm bells.
Upon closer inspection, railway officials discovered that the wheels of a single bogie on the Khyber Mail had become jammed, raising serious safety concerns.
In a swift response to the impending danger, the affected bogie was promptly detached from the train, and the remaining portion of the journey was continued towards Karachi.
Officials emphasized that had the train proceeded with the jammed wheels, the risk of a fire or derailment of the bogies would have been imminent, highlighting the significance of the prompt and decisive action taken to prevent a potential disaster.
