Imran Khan Supports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister’s Proposal for Direct Talks with Afghanistan

Imran Khan, the imprisoned founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has endorsed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur’s suggestion of initiating direct discussions with Afghanistan to address terrorism concerns and achieve lasting peace in the bordering regions.

During a conversation with journalists at Adiala Jail, Imran Khan voiced his support for Gandapur’s proposal, emphasizing the necessity of dialogue to combat terrorism. He also criticized Defence Minister Khawaja Asif for his rebuke of Gandapur’s plan, stressing the urgent need to prioritize the fight against terrorism.

Imran Khan highlighted the severe impact of terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the sacrifices made by law enforcement personnel in the province. He emphasized the importance of improving relations with Afghanistan and urged the government to collaborate with those working towards ending terrorism. Imran Khan defended Gandapur’s intentions, labeling his efforts as pro-country rather than anti-state.

Ali Amin Gandapur, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister, had previously announced plans to send a provincial government delegation to Afghanistan to address bilateral issues and combat terrorist threats without awaiting federal government approval.
