PESHAWAR: In a significant development, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has refused to ally with PTI in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
JI Deputy Amir Liaquat Baloch said that this decision has been taken after consultation within the party on the request of Tehreek-e-Insaaf.
He said that PTI only wants JI’s help in forming the government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, but they are ready for cooperation at the national level in the whole of Pakistan.
This means the PTI cannot get the 26 seats reserved for women and four for minorities in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly unless it manages to find an alternative.
This means that PTI will not be able to get any of the seats reserved for women and minorities despite being successful in getting a large number of members elected to the Provincial Assemblies of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab as well as to the National Assembly.

The JI’s decision came as the PTI chose another option for the rest of the country – Majlis Wahdat Muslimeen.
MWM Chairman Allama Raja Nasir Abbas on Tuesday welcomed PTI’s decision to forge an alliance with his party. The MWM chairman said that our party is the PTI founder’s own party. He can decide whatever he wants about this party. We will accept it unconditionally and unanimously.
Earlier, PTI had announced that it will form the government in the Center and Punjab along with Majlis Wahdat Muslimeen (MWM).
