The special court hearing the cipher case today sentenced former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi to 10 years in prison.

The former prime minister and former foreign minister were facing trial for tampering with diplomatic ciphers.

The two PTI leaders were accused of misusing the contents of the cipher to serve their purposes.

Special Court Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain pronounced the verdict in the cipher case immediately after recording the statements of the two accused under Section 342 during the hearing today (Tuesday).

In its decision, the court said that the prosecution has enough evidence to prove the charges against the former prime minister and the former foreign minister.
