Indian Foreign Minister to Attend Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Summit in Pakistan

[post-views]

Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar is set to visit Pakistan to take part in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit later this month, as confirmed by the Indian foreign ministry spokesman, Randhir Jaiswal. This visit marks the first time an Indian foreign minister will be visiting Pakistan in almost a decade. The SCO summit, scheduled for October 15 and 16, will also see the participation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as Pakistan is hosting the SCO Council of Heads of Government meeting under its rotating chairmanship.

A comprehensive security plan for the summit has been approved, with additional personnel from Pakistan Army, Rangers, FC, and Punjab police being deployed to ensure the security of the guests. This visit signals India’s delicate balancing act in engaging with the SCO while maintaining caution regarding China’s influence within the organization.
