RAWALPINDI: In a fierce encounter between terrorists and security forces in South Waziristan’s Zinghara area, two children were martyred, and two soldiers were injured, as per the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement on Thursday.
Acting on a tip-off, the operation resulted in the killing of eight terrorists, as claimed by the military’s media wing. According to the ISPR, the clash was an intense face-off that included an exchange of gunfire and mortar fire between security forces and terrorists.
Pakistan is grappling with a fresh wave of terror attacks in its rural and urban centres, targeting security forces, law enforcement personnel, and civilians alike.
Despite the ongoing attacks, Pakistan’s military and civil leadership has resolved to eradicate the threat and prevent them from challenging the state’s authority through intelligence-based operations (IBOs) aimed at cleansing militant-infested areas.
A day prior to the encounter, the security forces took down a terrorist commander who was involved in an attack on a census team in the Gara Guldad area of Dera Ismail Khan’s Tehsil Kulachi.
