Islamabad: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi says that there is a zero-tolerance policy regarding over-billing by electricity distribution companies across the country.

He emphasized that over-billing will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Naqvi has directed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to take strict action against any official found involved in over-billing.

Besides tackling over-billing, Minister Naqvi has called for an immediate crackdown on power theft. He has directed the FIA officers to do their best in dealing with incidents of over-billing and electricity theft.

Condemning the over-billing, the minister said that it is a great injustice to the people. He promised to provide relief to the public assuring that those involved in issuing expensive bills would be brought to justice.

The Home Minister highlighted the importance of tackling electricity theft and said that FIA officers will take action against corrupt elements across the country.

A few days ago, Naqvi disclosed the overbilling figures and promised to continue the crackdown on power theft. He said in a press conference that not only the rich and state customers but also the poor families are suffering from over-billing.

He revealed that Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has charged 830 million units extra to cover up failure to check line losses and power theft and to burden those who bear the consequences of an inefficient system. Face it.
