Iranian Teenager in Coma After Hijab Law Altercation, Condition Worsens

[post-views]

A 16-year-old Iranian girl, who fell into a coma earlier this month after an alleged confrontation with authorities over her violation of the country’s hijab law, is reported to be in a “brain-dead” condition, as stated by Iranian state media on Sunday.

This information was initially disclosed by human rights organizations, including Kurdish-Iranian Hengaw, who posted images of the teenager on social media. These pictures depicted her unconscious, attached to a ventilator, with a bandage on her head, indicating life support.

Reuters could not independently verify the authenticity of these images.

According to state media reports, the latest medical evaluations for Geravand indicate that she is, regrettably, in a brain-dead state, despite the dedicated efforts of the medical personnel.
