Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has called on the United Nations Security Council and the wider international community to act urgently to end the escalating humanitarian tragedy in Gaza. Addressing a UNSC session on the Middle East during the 80th UN General Assembly in New York, Dar declared: “Gaza has become a graveyard for humanity and the global conscience. The time for words has passed, the time for action is now.”
Dar warned that the humanitarian crisis has reached “catastrophic proportions,” with famine looming and survivors enduring unbearable suffering. He urged immediate steps to uphold human dignity, ensure accountability, and deliver justice. He welcomed the growing recognition of Palestine by UN member states and praised the France-Saudi initiative for advancing the two-state solution, calling it a reflection of justice and adherence to international law.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s solidarity with the Palestinian people, Dar addressed the OIC Committee of Six on Palestine, urging the Muslim world to demand a permanent ceasefire, unrestricted humanitarian aid, an end to illegal settlements, accountability for war crimes, and reconstruction of Gaza under the Arab-OIC plan. His strong remarks coincided with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and senior officials’ presence at the UNGA, where Pakistan is seeking to rally global consensus on Palestine, human rights, climate change, and regional peace.
