The use of white phosphorus munitions by Israel in south Lebanon continues to cause lasting damage and force villagers to leave their homes amid threats of war from Israeli officials. According to a recent report by Human Rights Watch (HRW), these white phosphorus attacks are not only putting civilians in grave danger but also contributing to displacement.
Since October 6, over 92,600 people have been displaced from their villages in south Lebanon, as reported by the International Organization for Migration. The indiscriminate use of airburst white phosphorus munitions in populated areas by Israel has resulted in significant harm to civilians, leading many to flee their homes, highlighted Ramzi Kaiss, a Lebanon researcher at HRW, in the report.
