Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has called an urgent meeting with senior advisers after learning that the United States did not coordinate with Israel while forming Donald Trump’s proposed “Board of Peace” for Gaza. Netanyahu’s office said the initiative was developed without Israel’s input and runs counter to its stated policies on Gaza’s future.
The Board of Peace is part of Trump’s 20-point plan to end the Israel-Hamas war and would temporarily oversee Gaza’s administration and reconstruction. Two senior bodies have been announced under the main board: a Founding Executive Board focused on diplomacy and investment, and a Gaza Executive Board tasked with managing on-the-ground operations through a new administrative body.
The Gaza Executive Board includes officials from Qatar and Turkey, both critics of Israel’s military campaign, along with figures such as former UK prime minister Tony Blair and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner. Only one Israeli-linked member, businessman Yakir Gabay, has been named, and no Palestinians are included.
Israeli reactions were sharp. National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir rejected the idea outright, while opposition leader Yair Lapid called it a diplomatic failure. International responses have been cautious, as questions remain over funding, governance, and Gaza’s worsening humanitarian crisis, which the United Nations says is far from resolved.
