The Israeli military has escalated its attacks on the Gaza Strip, launching intense assaults using air, land, and sea forces. The onslaught has caused widespread fear among the displaced population and resulted in numerous casualties. Saturday saw dozens of air raids targeting various areas, including Deir el-Balah, Rafah, and Gaza City, leading to a significant number of deaths and injuries.
The Gaza Ministry of Health has reported that Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital is struggling to cope with the influx of casualties, with the majority being children and women. Medical teams are working tirelessly amid shortages of medicine, food, and a lack of fuel for the hospital’s main generator. The dire situation has been exacerbated by disrupted communication channels, leaving civilians uncertain about where to seek safety and hindering the hospital’s ability to coordinate emergency response efforts.
Describing the harrowing scene from inside the hospital, Al Jazeera reporter Hind Khoudary highlighted the overwhelming chaos as terrified individuals sought refuge while ambulances continually transported the wounded to the facility. Additionally, Dr Mohammed el-Moughir confirmed that dozens of killed or injured Palestinians had been brought to the hospital in Deir el-Balah, further underscoring the gravity of the situation.
Meanwhile, the Israeli military acknowledged that it is targeting terrorist infrastructure in the Nuseirat area. However, the continued bombardment has led to a dire humanitarian crisis, displacing more than half a million Palestinians and taking a severe toll on civilian lives, homes, and critical infrastructure. With civilian lives hanging in the balance, the situation in Gaza remains extremely precarious amid the ongoing hostilities.
