Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has officially launched the second phase of the Lahore Development Plan, a major initiative aimed at modernising and beautifying the provincial capital. Chairing a review meeting, she said that the project reflects the government’s commitment to improving daily life for citizens through better urban infrastructure.

The Chief Minister made it clear that no compromise will be accepted on construction standards and that delays will not be tolerated at any stage. She stressed that every street included in the plan must meet strict quality benchmarks, ensuring long-term utility and durability for residents.

According to the briefing, the second phase covers the upgrade of 6,284 streets across Lahore. Out of these, 5,798 streets fall under the Lahore Municipal Corporation, while 486 streets are under WASA. The work includes drainage improvements, road repairs and essential municipal upgrades.

Officials confirmed that all development work under this phase is scheduled for completion by June 30 next year, with strict monitoring systems in place to keep the project on track.
