Lahore police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) against Imran Khan, the founding chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), along with 200 other leaders, workers, and lawyers. They face charges of sedition, terrorism, and attempted murder.
Additionally, three other cases were registered against hundreds of PTI leaders and supporters for violating Section 144, which was imposed by the Punjab government. These actions followed rallies held by PTI leaders in Lahore over the weekend.
The main FIR, lodged at the Islampura police station, names Imran Khan and senior PTI leaders such as Hammad Azhar, Musarrat Cheema, and others. Police Inspector Anthony Victor claims that these leaders met with Imran Khan in jail to plan actions that would create chaos and incite violence against state institutions.
The FIR alleges that Imran Khan encouraged these leaders to commit violent acts, leading to anti-state slogans and an attack on law enforcement, which resulted in injuries to Constable Bilal. The accused were reportedly armed with weapons and led a violent mob towards PMG Chowk, chanting slogans and threatening further violence.
