The Islamabad High Court has restrained the trial court from recording the statements of the witnesses of the marriage of PTI founder and Bushra Bibi in the iddat case.

Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court Justice Aamir Farooq heard the petition filed against Iddat during the marriage of PTI founder and Bushra Bibi. Salman Akram Raja appeared in the court on behalf of former Prime Minister and Bushra Bibi.

Salman Akram Raja giving arguments in the case said that the entire district judiciary is busy in Adiala Jail. He told the court, today he will record the statements of the witnesses. Justice Aamir Farooq said that the court will stop him from recording the statement, but let him be told about the case first.

The court asked how long the period lasts? The Raja replied that even if he were to assume that the petitioner’s statement was correct, the marriage took place after 48 days.

He said that Idda usually lasts for 90 days but Maulana Taqi Usmani explained it. A decision was also issued by the Supreme Court on the period of Eid.

The court said that even if the marriage is performed during the period of Idda, it can be formalized. The Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court asked that if the marriage did not take place as usual, what was the crime?

Later, the court restrained the trial court from recording the statements of the marriage witnesses during the iddat case.
