Mickey Arthur, the director of Pakistan’s cricket team, didn’t mince words as he voiced his concerns about the one-sided atmosphere prevailing in the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad after Pakistan’s defeat to India in the ICC Cricket World Cup match.
Addressing the media in the aftermath of Pakistan’s loss, Arthur expressed his disappointment, remarking that the ambiance didn’t resonate with the spirit of an ICC event. He went on to characterize it as more akin to a bilateral series, suggesting that it felt like a BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) affair.
“It didn’t seem like an ICC event to be brutally honest. It seemed like a bilateral series; it seemed like a BCCI event. I didn’t hear Dil Dil Pakistan coming through the microphones too often tonight,” Arthur pointed out.
Nevertheless, Arthur stressed that he wouldn’t allow the atmosphere to serve as an excuse, emphasizing that the team’s focus had been on living in the moment and strategizing for each ball, with the ultimate goal of combatting the Indian players effectively.
