Millions of Muslims around the world marked Eid-ul-Fitr on Sunday with special dawn prayers and celebrations, with significant observances in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), where large congregations gathered at major mosques and prayer grounds.

The Eid festivities also kicked off in Türkiye, Iran, Sudan, Lebanon, Yemen, and Palestine after the sighting of the Shawwal crescent moon on Saturday, signaling the conclusion of Ramadan.

In Saudi Arabia, millions attended prayers at mosques and open grounds, including the Grand Mosque in Mecca and other key locations. The UAE also held large-scale Eid prayers, with the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi and various prayer grounds hosting worshippers for the special occasion.

Meanwhile, countries like Indonesia, Malaysia, and Australia have announced that they will observe Eid on Monday, completing a full 30-day Ramadan. Bangladesh’s National Moon Sighting Committee confirmed Sunday as the final day of Ramadan, with Eid scheduled for Monday. Similarly, Malaysia’s International Astronomy Centre and Australia’s Fatwa Council supported Monday’s Eid observance based on astronomical calculations.

In Pakistan, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is set to meet to determine if Eid will be celebrated on Monday, while the Bohra community celebrated a day earlier, holding prayers in Karachi’s Saddar, Soldier Bazaar, and other neighborhoods. Afghan refugees in Pakistan also marked Eid on Sunday, with prayers conducted under tight security in regions like Bajaur.
