NAB Recovers Rs88 Billion in Q1 2025

ISLAMABAD – The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) announced on Saturday that it recovered and disbursed over Rs88 billion during the first quarter of 2025 (January to March), significantly contributing to its ongoing anti-corruption efforts.

According to NAB’s press release, direct recoveries stood at Rs2.085 billion, while indirect recoveries, primarily related to illegal land transfers and encroachments, totaled Rs86 billion. These funds and properties were returned to the affected entities, including government departments and private victims.

Among the major recoveries, NAB Lahore led with Rs70.87 billion retrieved from three mega housing scams. NAB Balochistan recovered state lands worth Rs6.45 billion, NAB Sukkur secured 610 acres of NHA land worth Rs8.53 billion, and NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa retrieved Rs0.56 billion in a university land case.

A total of Rs19.9 billion was directly distributed to 19,105 victims of various housing and investment scams, including Rs1.17 billion to Eden Housing affectees and Rs405 million in the SHG case.

Since inception, NAB has recovered Rs6.236 trillion, with nearly Rs4 trillion recovered in the last 18 months alone. These recoveries stemmed from plea bargains, voluntary returns, and legal settlements, reflecting NAB’s intensified accountability drive.
