Pakistan’s pace sensation, Naseem Shah, has joined Leicestershire County for the commencement of the T20 Blast, albeit for a brief period, as a replacement for Afghan bowler Naveen-ul-Haq.
Naveen is currently in India following the qualification of the Lucknow Super Giants for the Indian Premier League (IPL) playoffs.
Naseem arrived in the UK on Tuesday evening and swiftly integrated with his new teammates in preparation for the T20 opener against Lancashire on Thursday.

Described as a prodigious talent, Naseem made his inaugural appearance in the first-class arena at the tender age of 15. He then burst onto the international scene as a 16-year-old, debuting for Pakistan in Brisbane back in 2019. His meteoric rise continued with a staggering tally of 80 wickets on the international stage.
Leicestershire expressed their excitement about the acquisition, stating in a press release, “He has emerged as an indispensable asset in Pakistan’s white-ball squads as well. Since his ODI and T20I debuts last August, Naseem has featured in 27 matches for his country, playing a pivotal role as Pakistan finished as runners-up in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.”
