Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif has sharply criticized imprisoned PTI founder Imran Khan for calling a ‘final protest march,’ questioning why anyone would protest in support of his “zero performance” during his nearly four years in office.

In a casual conversation with reporters in London, Nawaz Sharif said, “Imran Khan did nothing except bring disgrace to the country. Can he point to a single development project from his time in power that he can proudly present as evidence of progress?” Sharif was responding to Imran Khan’s announcement that he would lead a protest march to Islamabad on November 24, with plans for rallies across Pakistan and worldwide.

Imran Khan’s lawyer, Faisal Chaudhry, confirmed the protest would involve PTI’s full leadership, but emphasized that the names of those involved in organizing the march would not be revealed for fear of arrests. The protest is being described as a final attempt by Khan to rally support against the government, but reports suggest PTI’s senior leaders have advised caution, warning that such an action without proper preparation could backfire.

Sharif continued his criticism of Khan’s leadership, asking, “Can Imran say he built a motorway, launched new development projects, established power plants, or ended load-shedding? His performance was zero.”

He further accused Imran Khan of undermining democracy and conspiring with judges like Saqib Nisar to disqualify him in 2016. Sharif also pointed out that instead of working for the country’s development, Khan’s government focused on victimizing political opponents, including himself.

Nawaz Sharif praised current Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for his efforts to stabilize and improve Pakistan’s economy, stating, “The country has emerged from difficulties and is now on the path to prosperity, despite the obstacles being created.”

Sharif also highlighted the challenges faced by PML-N during Imran Khan’s tenure, accusing Khan, former army chief General (retd) Bajwa, and ex-ISI chief Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed of conspiring against his party. He recalled that during Khan’s time in office, he was even denied permission to travel to London to be with his ailing wife, Kulsoom Nawaz.

In closing, Nawaz Sharif emphasized that the PTI leadership should be held accountable for their actions before calling for any more protests.
