Newly elected members of Punjab Assembly will take oath today

LAHORE: The newly elected members of the Punjab Assembly are scheduled to take oath today (Friday), thereby formally starting the process of government formation in Pakistan’s most populous province.

The first meeting of the House must be convened within 20 days of the elections. Pakistan Muslim League (N) has got maximum number of seats in Punjab Provincial Assembly.

The Muslim League (N) has nominated Maryam Nawaz, the party’s chief organizer and daughter of three-time prime minister Nawaz Sharif, for the post of chief minister. Maryam Nawaz is expected to become the first woman Chief Minister in the country’s history.
