The South Korean military made a stunning announcement on Thursday, revealing that North Korea had unleashed a pair of ballistic missiles into the vast expanse of the eastern coast. This marked the first missile launch in two months, with the projectiles eventually finding their way into Japan’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), as reported by AFP.
According to sources, these two short-range ballistic missiles were propelled skyward as a direct response to a warning issued by Pyongyang. The warning emphasized that any joint military exercises conducted by South Korea and the United States would undoubtedly trigger an “inevitable” retaliatory action.
In a collective effort to counter the growing threat posed by the nuclear-armed North, both nations have united their forces to undertake large-scale live-fire exercises, aptly named “annihilation” drills.
Providing further details, South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff confirmed the precise trajectory of the projectiles, tracing their origins to the Sunan area. Between 19:25 and 19:37 (1025 to 1037 GMT), these two short-range ballistic missiles swiftly traversed the vastness of the East Sea, leaving an indelible mark on the region’s security landscape.
