Pak-Afghan talks successfully resume commercial activities on Kham border

[post-views]

Officials in Pakistan opened the Torkham border on Tuesday after 10 days of successful negotiations with Afghan officials.

The Torkham border was closed to enforce the passport visa requirement on drivers.

After a ten-day closure, the Torkham border gate was opened for two-way traffic on Tuesday, the 11th, and commercial activities resumed.

According to the agreement, Afghan drivers have been given time till March 31 to complete travel documents. From April 1, vehicles going to Pakistan from Torkham border will not be allowed without valid travel documents.

Meanwhile, the first cargo container entered Pakistan after the border crossing was opened.

Due to the closure of the Torkham border, thousands of vehicles laden with fruits and vegetables were stranded on both sides of the crossing and these food items began to become stale and spoiled.
