Pakistan Army on Wednesday confirmed that six soldiers, including Captain Noman Saleem, embraced martyrdom during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Dogar area of Kurram District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The operation, conducted against India-backed Fitna al-Khawarij terrorists, resulted in the killing of seven militants, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported.
Captain Noman, 24, a brave medical officer from Mianwali, fought valiantly alongside his comrades before embracing martyrdom. The other martyrs include Havildar Amjad Ali, Naik Waqas Ahmad, and Sepoys Aijaz Ali, Muhammad Waleed, and Muhammad Shahbaz. The ISPR said sanitisation efforts are ongoing under Operation Azm-e-Istehkam to eliminate remaining threats in the region.

President Asif Ali Zardari paid tribute to the martyrs, lauding their supreme sacrifice in defending Pakistan against India-sponsored terrorism. He reiterated the nation’s unwavering resolve to eradicate extremism and safeguard national sovereignty.
Cross-border terrorism has intensified since the Taliban’s return to power in 2021. Despite Pakistan’s repeated calls, the Taliban regime continues to shelter militants targeting Pakistan. Recent clashes on October 12 left 23 soldiers martyred, though Pakistani forces retaliated effectively, killing over 200 Taliban fighters.

Subsequent peace talks in Doha and Istanbul failed to yield progress, with Pakistani authorities citing the Taliban’s “illogical” stance. Pakistan, however, remains resolute in defending its borders and ensuring regional peace.
