Pakistan expressed strong condemnation on Wednesday regarding the attack at the Turkish Aerospace Industries’ headquarters in Ankara, which resulted in four fatalities and injured 14 others.
The Foreign Office of Pakistan extended heartfelt condolences to the victims’ families and wished a quick recovery for the injured. They reaffirmed their steadfast support for Turkey’s efforts in fighting terrorism.
Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, expressed his shock and sorrow over the incident, sharing his condolences with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the Turkish people. He emphasized Pakistan’s solidarity with Turkey and strongly condemned the attack.
According to Turkish officials, two attackers were killed during what was described as a terrorist act, with three of the injured in serious condition. Witnesses reported hearing gunfire and explosions near the TUSAS building, one of Turkey’s leading defense and aviation manufacturers.
The motives behind the attack remain unclear, and no group has claimed responsibility yet. Media reports suggest potential links to a suicide attack, but officials have not confirmed this as authorities conducted an investigation.
NATO’s head, Mark Rutte, voiced the alliance’s support for Turkey, condemning the violent act and indicating that they are closely monitoring the ongoing situation. Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin, during talks with Erdogan at a BRICS summit, also offered his condolences for the tragic event.
