Pakistan’s Foreign Office (FO) has strongly condemned US President Donald Trump’s controversial remarks regarding Gaza, calling his proposal “deeply troubling and unjust.” Trump’s plan, revealed at a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, suggested the US would take control of Gaza, displace Palestinians, and turn the region into “the Riviera of the Middle East.” The announcement sparked widespread international backlash.
The Foreign Office issued a statement expressing that the proposal to displace Palestinians from Gaza was a violation of their rights and land, stressing that the only viable solution to the conflict is the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state, in line with UN Security Council resolutions. Pakistan reiterated its support for Palestine’s self-determination, reaffirming its commitment to a peaceful two-state solution, with East Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine.
Pakistan also condemned Israel’s continued illegal settlement expansion and the restrictions on humanitarian aid to Gaza, which are in violation of international law. The country called for the return of displaced Palestinians and urged the international community to hold Israel accountable for its actions.
In addition to the Gaza issue, the FO raised concerns over the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, calling for unhindered aid and full access for international agencies to assist those in need.

On a separate matter, the FO highlighted the plight of around 150 Pakistanis stranded in Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo, due to the ongoing conflict in the region. The Pakistani High Commission worked with Rwandan authorities to facilitate their safe passage into Rwanda. The mission is also reaching out to Pakistanis in Bukavu for assistance.
In other updates, Pakistan extended condolences on the death of Prince Karim Aga Khan IV, the spiritual leader of the Ismaili community, and clarified that it did not arrange former foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari’s trip to the US for the National Prayer Breakfast.
The FO also expressed its solidarity with the Kashmiri people on Kashmir Solidarity Day and noted that Dr. Aafia Siddiqui’s mercy appeal to former US President Biden was rejected. The case remains open for future appeals through her legal team.
