ISLAMABAD: In a bold and resolute response, Pakistan firmly dismissed the condemnatory backlash from international human rights organizations, countering accusations of government violations. The nation unequivocally declared its unwavering dedication to upholding both local and international legal commitments concerning human rights.

Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zehra Baloch vehemently defended Pakistan’s position, delivering a robust rebuttal in light of queries arising from statements made by rights bodies and US lawmakers. These calls urged Pakistan to honor its commitments while addressing the arrest of numerous Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters following the May 9 riots.

The PTI, asserting that their members, including women, were subject to mistreatment in detention, found their claims refuted by a committee specially assembled to evaluate their conditions. Furthermore, female PTI supporters themselves expressed that they did not face any harassment during their time behind bars.

The authorities hold the former ruling party accountable for orchestrating and aiding the acts of vandalism that transpired during the protests against the arrest of PTI Chairman Imran Khan.
