Pakistan and Iran reaffirmed their readiness to work together against terrorism as Army Chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir met Ali Ardeshir Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, at GHQ Rawalpindi. Munir stressed Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace and highlighted the need for stronger cooperation with Iran in response to evolving geopolitical realities.
Larijani appreciated Pakistan’s stabilising role and conveyed Iran’s willingness to deepen bilateral ties through dialogue, coordinated counter-terrorism measures, and enhanced security channels. Both sides prioritised joint efforts against militant threats affecting border regions and emphasised improved defence and intelligence coordination.

The meeting continues a warming trend in 2025, following Munir’s earlier visit to Tehran and prior agreements establishing liaison officers and a joint border-coordination mechanism. These steps aim to prevent escalation, strengthen border management, and expand regional trade connectivity.
