Pakistan and Jordan reaffirmed their strong bilateral ties as President Asif Ali Zardari welcomed King Abdullah II in Islamabad. Both leaders stressed people-to-people contact, wider cooperation and closer coordination on regional and global issues. The two sides reiterated their shared and principled position on Palestine. They rejected any displacement of Palestinians and called for an independent and contiguous Palestinian state on the pre-1967 borders with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital. President Zardari conferred Nishan-e-Pakistan on King Abdullah II, while the Jordanian monarch awarded the Wisam al-Nahdah to the Pakistani president.
