Pakistan Navy Vows Readiness as India Deploys Naval Strike Group Near Arabian Sea

Amid escalating tensions between the nuclear-armed neighbors, Pakistan’s navy announced on Friday that it is fully prepared to counter any potential aggression from India.

The declaration followed a report by The Telegraph, which claimed that India has deployed a powerful naval strike group near Pakistan’s coastline in response to the growing conflict. According to the report, India’s western fleet, including an aircraft carrier, destroyers, frigates, and other warships, has moved closer to the northern Arabian Sea, positioning itself within striking distance of Karachi, Pakistan’s largest port city.

The latest flare-up in hostilities began on May 7, when an unprovoked Indian cross-border attack killed at least 31 civilians in Pakistan. In retaliation, Pakistan’s military claims to have downed five Indian fighter jets, including three Rafales, along with dozens of drones.

Despite Pakistan’s counterstrikes, India has reportedly continued drone incursions into Pakistani territory. The Pakistani military says it has shot down nearly 80 drones so far, including several Israeli-made IAI Heron UAVs, known for their long-endurance surveillance capabilities.

In a press briefing, DG ISPR Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry emphasized Pakistan’s stance, stating, “We are not seeking to de-escalate. Given the damage they’ve caused, India should expect a response.” He added, “So far, we have defended ourselves, but our answer will come at a time of our choosing.”

The situation remains tense as both nations continue to flex military muscle, raising concerns about further escalation in one of the world’s most volatile regions.
