Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to facilitating peace in the Gulf region during a phone call with Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian. He highlighted Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach and expressed serious concern over ongoing hostilities, stressing the urgent need for collective de-escalation and a return to dialogue among neighboring countries. Emphasizing the importance of unity within the Ummah, Shehbaz extended Pakistan’s solidarity with the Iranian people, offering condolences for lives lost and prayers for the injured and displaced. He also conveyed Eid-ul-Fitr and Nowruz greetings, warmly reciprocated by the Iranian president.
In parallel, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar spoke with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister Fuad Hussein, underlining dialogue, diplomacy, and adherence to international law as essential to regional stability. Both conversations emphasized continued close coordination to address escalating tensions and promote peace, security, and stability in the region.
