[post-views]

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reiterated Pakistan’s strong commitment to ensuring a safe environment for Chinese citizens, workers, and investment projects in the country. The statement came after recent border tensions following military operations by Pakistan’s security forces against militant attacks originating from across the Afghan border.

During a meeting with Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong in Islamabad, the prime minister discussed regional security and international matters of shared interest. Both sides agreed to maintain close diplomatic coordination to promote stability, peace, and economic progress in the region. The prime minister assured that Pakistan will continue providing maximum protection to Chinese personnel and institutions working in the country.

Sharif reaffirmed the long-standing strategic partnership between Pakistan and China, describing it as a relationship built on mutual trust and shared interests. He also conveyed warm wishes to Chinese President Xi Jinping and other Chinese leaders on the Chinese New Year, while appreciating China’s support for Pakistan’s economic and security development.

The prime minister emphasized accelerating work on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and expanding cooperation in agriculture, information technology, and mineral exploration under the broader framework of the Belt and Road Initiative. Meanwhile, China urged both Pakistan and Afghanistan to observe a ceasefire and exercise restraint to prevent further escalation.
