The Pakistani Foreign Office has strongly rejected comments from the Afghan Foreign Ministry regarding Pakistan’s political situation. In a statement, Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch called the remarks “frivolous” and “unacceptable,” urging the Afghan interim government to focus on its own domestic issues instead of interfering in Pakistan’s affairs.
Following the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activists’ march towards Islamabad, the Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs had expressed concerns that the tension between the government and opposition could negatively impact neighbouring countries. Baloch responded by emphasizing that Afghanistan should prioritize inclusivity and address the needs of its people, including the right to education for women and girls.
She also urged Afghanistan to fulfil its commitments to the international community by denying space to terror groups and preventing the country from becoming a hub for global terrorism. Baloch reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to peace, dialogue, and cooperation in the region, expecting all states, including Afghanistan, to adhere to responsible international conduct.
The statement comes after days of unrest in Islamabad due to PTI protests, which have now been controlled.
