ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s caretaker Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar has reasserted Islamabad’s stance on the alleged use of US weapons for terrorist activities in the country, emphasizing that these weapons are not only being circulated in the black market within Pakistan but are also finding their way into the hands of nefarious elements across the region and the Middle East.

These remarks came during a press conference at the PM House in Islamabad, where Kakar addressed a question from Geo News regarding the US State Department’s recent denial of leaving any military equipment behind by American forces during their withdrawal from Afghanistan.

“While we acknowledge the US State Department’s condolences for the recent attacks on Pakistani security forces and facilities, we must reiterate that the issue of US-supplied weapons falling into the wrong hands is a grave concern for Pakistan,” Kakar stated. “These weapons are not just being sold on the black market domestically but are also being transported to other parts of the region and the Middle East, fueling a dangerous arms proliferation.”

This statement comes just a day after US State Department’s Principal Deputy Spokesperson Vedant Patel denied the existence of any equipment left behind by American forces during their Afghanistan withdrawal.

“We remain aware of the recent reports of multiple attacks on Pakistani security forces and facilities, and we offer our deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives,” Patel said during a press briefing. “However, I want to be absolutely clear: There was no equipment left behind by American forces during the withdrawal from Afghanistan.”
