Pakistan’s first polio vaccination drive of 2025 concluded successfully, achieving 99% of its target between February 3 and 9. Over 45 million children received the polio vaccine during this campaign.
The Pakistan Polio Eradication Programme continues to conduct multiple mass vaccination drives annually, ensuring the vaccine reaches children at their doorsteps. Additionally, the Expanded Programme on Immunisation (EPI) offers free vaccinations against 12 childhood diseases at health facilities.
Health officials stress that Pakistan remains one of only two polio-endemic countries in the world, alongside Afghanistan. Although the country had made significant progress in reducing polio cases, recent spikes highlight the urgent need for consistent vaccination efforts.
Parents are strongly urged to ensure their children under five receive polio drops in every campaign to protect them from this crippling disease.
