Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has strongly condemned recent US strikes on Iran, expressing deep concern that the targeted sites were under the safeguards of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), marking a grave violation of international law and IAEA protocols.

In a telephone call with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Prime Minister Sharif conveyed Pakistan’s solidarity with Iran following what he described as unprovoked and unlawful aggression by Israel, now intensified by US attacks. He extended heartfelt condolences over the loss of innocent lives and wished a swift recovery to the injured.

Reaffirming Iran’s right to self-defence under Article 51 of the UN Charter, the Prime Minister emphasized that immediate return to dialogue and diplomacy is the only viable solution. He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to playing a constructive role in efforts toward regional peace and stability.

President Pezeshkian expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s support, including from its civil and military leadership, and agreed to maintain close communication with Islamabad.

A statement by Pakistan’s Foreign Office reiterated that these attacks are illegal and risk dangerous escalation. It urged all parties to respect international law, protect civilians, and prioritize diplomacy to prevent further destabilization in the region.
