Pakistan to Join Inaugural Gaza Board of Peace Summit in Washington

[post-views]

ISLAMABAD — Pakistan is set to participate in the first-ever summit of the Gaza Board of Peace, diplomatic sources confirmed on Sunday, signaling Islamabad’s continued commitment to regional stability and humanitarian relief in Gaza.

The inaugural meeting will take place in Washington on February 19 and will be chaired by US President Donald Trump. Pakistan has received a formal invitation, and while an official announcement is pending, the country is expected to be represented at the summit by either the Prime Minister or Deputy Prime Minister, reflecting the significance Islamabad attaches to the initiative.

The summit will focus on restoring peace and stability in Gaza, facilitating humanitarian access, sustaining ceasefire arrangements, and planning post-conflict reconstruction. Pakistan’s participation is part of its broader diplomatic effort to advocate an early and just resolution to the ongoing humanitarian crisis, uphold international law, and support UN-backed frameworks.

Islamabad has reiterated its support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including the establishment of an independent state along pre-1967 borders with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital. Officials view participation in the board as an opportunity to present Pakistan’s perspective directly to key international stakeholders and promote coordinated action to prevent further civilian casualties and regional destabilisation.

The US-led Board of Peace, formally joined by over 20 countries including Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Qatar, and the UAE, was first announced last year at the World Economic Forum in Davos. While initially focused on Gaza’s reconstruction, the board now seeks to address broader conflict-affected regions, mobilising funding and political support for sustainable peace.
