Pakistan, a significant player in the global defense market, has recently made a substantial agreement with Azerbaijan for the sale of JF-17 Block-III fighter aircraft. This agreement is a major step in enhancing Azerbaijan’s airpower capabilities and underscores Pakistan’s increasing influence in the defense sector.
Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev, during his visit to Pakistan, was briefed on the cutting-edge combat capabilities of the JF-17 Block-III. This fighter jet, equipped with state-of-the-art radar and long-range missiles, represents a significant leap in Azerbaijan’s defense capabilities, showcasing the latest in defense technology.
Impressed by the aircraft’s performance, Azerbaijan’s government requested the deployment of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) assets to Baku. Pakistan sent a PAF contingent to Azerbaijan for the ADEX-2024 defense exhibition, where the JF-17 Thunder Block-III was showcased. The fighter jet’s long-range deployment, including air-to-air refueling, demonstrated its operational reach and capabilities.
President Aliyev visited the JF-17 Thunder’s display and witnessed an impressive aerial performance, a testament to the aircraft’s agility and the unwavering professionalism of PAF pilots, instilling confidence in the aircraft’s operational capabilities.
The acquisition of the JF-17 Block-III will significantly enhance Azerbaijan’s national security and strengthen the military cooperation between the two countries. President Aliyev expressed his gratitude for Pakistan’s support, emphasizing that this deal will foster stronger relations between Pakistan and Azerbaijan. Furthermore, it will allow Pakistan to project its weaponry into the international defence market. It will not only be good for defence business but also for international cooperation and bilateral relations.
